Mosaic
Mosaic is really a simple process:
| Step 1: Choose the tiles you want to use for your project. |
Step 2: Glue the tiles to the surface one at a time.
|
Step 3: Once all tiles are glued, let it dry for 24-48 hours. |
Step 4: After the glue cures, grout your mosaic.

Walk-in mosaic projects are priced to include all supplies with the exception of a grout kit. If you like to mosaic at home, you can also purchase mosaic supplies at the studio.
Basic Mosaic supplies:

Different types and colors of tile
In our walk-in area we stock a variety of Venetian glass tiles which are non-porous, stain resistant, and frost proof. They are available in a wide range of colors, most of which come in two sizes ¾" or 3/16" squares. Venetian glass tiles have a flat top face and a ridged and beveled back.
Glass, Shells & Found Objects
We also have an ever-changing collection of mirror, colored glass, glass nuggets, marbles and pressed glass jewels that can be incorporated into your mosaics
Glass nippers
Glass nippers have a set of tungsten-carbide wheels set opposite on spring loaded handles. They are used to cut glass, mirror, glass tiles, and the like in a manner similar to scissors.

Strong adhesive
We think Weldbond is the best glue for mosaics that are for indoor use. It's water based, has no fumes, dries clear, water resistant and easy to clean up. We sell bottles of Weldbond for people who like to mosaic at home
Grout kit
Grouting is the technique of filling in the spaces between your tiles. Grout is just a fine textured version of cement mortar. It unifies and enhances the design and it adds strength to the piece.
Since the adhesive must dry before a mosaic can be grouted, we sell grout kits to take home to finish your project. The kit contains all the materials you need to grout your project. It includes disposable plastic gloves, a dust mask, 1 lb. of grout, a wooden stir stick, sponges, a cleaning cloth and detailed directions to help you with the grouting process. If you prefer, you can return to the studio to grout your project for an additional studio fee.
